The Sierra Club expects to make several endorsements for state and local races in 2024. Endorsements will occur on a rolling basis.

What goes into an endorsement?
Our endorsement is based on a number of factors, including answers to our candidate questionnaires. Other factors may include a candidate's public record, past accomplishments, prospects of mounting a competitive campaign, and their stances on racial equity and social justice. If needed, we may ask candidates to interview with us before making a determination.

Why are some races not listed?

Not all seats across state and local governments are up for election at the same time. There are also candidates up for re-election who face no challenger, which may influence our decision to endorse. Federal race endorsements, such as the U.S. House and U.S. Senate, can be found here.
